rough night

I have officially concluded that I probably need to stop watching scary shows. Does anyone watch Pretty Little Liars? Well I had a dream about them that intertwined with Nightmare on Elm Street type killing (yup – I watched the newest installment of that movie this past Friday.)

I do not remember a whole lot except that the guy that Spencer really likes was in some type of jail thing and got his cell mate this chile that she really wanted. She came over to his cell and all of a sudden cracked out a chain saw like thing, and just started sawing off his head. I thought it was just a “dream” but his head was off his body as fast as you could say “yikes.” I am sure I woke up gasping…but am not 100% sure. The girl then took off one of his fingers and wrote in blood on a mirror some message.

Somehow that guy turned into me…I died and I then asked the girl who killed me for a truce since I was already dead and she said sure. I still have not recovered from the nightmare that felt so real. I am on these new pills and one of the side effects is “odd dreams” . . . you could say that again.

 I guess it doesn't help that I drove by this yesterday....and saw some body under some white sheet with blodd running down the highway....

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Tragedy on the Beltway, as a woman was found dead along a busy stretch of road. Now police are searching for clues to solve her death, and find the driver who didn't stop to help.

The gruesome discovery shut down the beltway near Bush Intercontinental Airport for more than four hours early Monday morning. Police are working to track down the driver they believe hit and killed her.

The stretch of Beltway 8 was shut down for about four hours, reopening around 7:30am. Relatives tell Eyewitness News Nastacia Luter, 24, died in the early morning accident, although police have not officially released her name.
Police say the young woman crashed her car overnight -- it's unclear exactly where or how, but she was the only car involved. She then apparently pulled over onto the left shoulder of the beltway and got out of her car. Witnesses told police they saw her walking across several lanes.

At that point, she was hit by the driver of a white Dodge Intrepid. That car kept going, and never stopped. The woman was hit again by an 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler did stop, and he called 911.
According to police several additional cars hit the victim before officers could get to her. But by the time they did, she was already dead.

The woman's brother returned to the scene. He told us she was coming home from a nightclub and was almost to their house when this all happened.

"She was coming back from the club," said her brother, Charles Henry. "I guess somebody hit her. She went to check on the car and see what happened and another car came down and hit her and dragged her down the freeway."

The driver of the 18-wheeler does not face any charges. The driver of the Dodge, however, is still at large and could face a charge of failure to stop and render aid. The accident remains under investigation.

I am trying to get back on track with blogging…give me a few days…I get this amazing “life planner” in a few days that will help me with the back on track deal.

Reading Thursday: The Scorch Trials

I finished The Scorch Trials on Monday, August 1^st. It is the second book to The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

This book left me emotionally drained. Mr. Dashner toyed with my emotions – especially towards the end of the book.

This books starts where the group has to go through another “trial.”  This book documents their journey into what used to be Mexico. They have to make it to a certain area within two weeks.

They have to deal with the sun (which is so bright and hot that they have to stay covered or they will blister), the cranks, lightning that is beyond dangerous, and more man made monsters. Will they make it to their destination or will they all die during the treacherous journey?  

I do not want to reveal too much but I imagine this would be a fantastic movie.  The twist and turns in this book will make you want to hurry up and finish the book!

I almost quit reading 80% through the book I got so upset with how he took Thomas and Teresa's relationship! I had no idea that one character would act a certain way! Fortunately, about three chapters later, my happiness was restored – but then it was taken away with another twist. Do not let me being upset fool ya – I loved this book!

"He didn't care about the others anymore. The chaos around him seemed to siphon away his humanity, turn him into an animal. All he wanted was to survive, make it to that building, get inside. Live. Gain another day."

Dystopia at its finest!

The script has been shopped around – that was cited from an article in December of 2009. I don’t know if it is still being shopped or if it has been shot down.

The Death Cure comes out October 11, 2011...yessss!

I started The Uglies by Scott Westerfield on Monday. Finished in on Wednesday and started The Pretties! Another review soon!

I really don't have much to talk about yesterday. I thought i'd share a picture I found today that scares me just a bit.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I sure did!  Thursday night Matt and I went to go get his trial version of his new contacts and then headed to Borders to check out the deals since the whole chain is closing down.  We got some darn good deals. After we had our adventure, we went to Taco Bell.

I am on some new medication – one of the big side effects is loss of appetite and sick to stomach. I get those both big time. Not a whole lot sounds good these days. I have officially lost about 5-6 lbs. I was able to down two soft tacos. Win!

Friday was nice! My mom and I went out to lunch. My stomach was upset but I needed to eat so we went to La Madeline and I got tomato basil soup (which I had like 4 spoonfuls) and a Caesar salad. We then went to Borders (twice in less than 24 hours) and got MORE deals!

We then headed over to the mall and checked out the new Vera Bradley store! I decided to get a new e-reader cover. My kindle cover was extremely ugly…not anymore!

During the shopping adventure, I ended up getting texts saying that Matt’s family may drop by for the weekend. Spur of the moment! I was ok with it!

Friday night was tame. I had the rest of my tomato basil soup and fell asleep early waiting for them to get here. Matt also fell asleep and luckily, I finally heard knocking and woke up!

Matt’s family went on to Galveston for the weekend while we kept the little sista with us.

Saturday morning was mellow – I went and got Whataburger breakfast and we relaxed and dropped the pug kid off at my mom’s.  We then decided to go couch shopping. We have 15 yr old green furniture. It smells – it is awful – and I would not let any friends come over because of our couch. We went to Rooms to Go, Star Furniture, and Gallery Furniture.

Rooms to Go: we were left alone. They had some nice deals but I could not pin point a favorite. Therefore, we moved on to Star Furniture

Star Furniture: Stress city – no amount of anti anxiety pills could help this situation. We had a woman that cackled like a witch and thought that our 14 year old sister was our child. She would not leave us alone and made us sit on furniture that we said was too big for our living room. I told her we did not want to go to the second floor and she kept on bugging us about it. After we finished she asked us which one we wanted to buy. Um, no.

I left and told Matt that we were never going back.

We then went to Gallery Furniture. The guy that owns this place, Jim McInvale, aka “Mattress Mac” is the biggest Houston celebrity. Anyone and everyone in Houston knows this guy. We went there and were greeted with tropical birds and the staff singing God Bless America. They had cake and ice cream and water for free. We spent about 3 hours in there before decided on a couch.

We got a dream deal that consisted of

2 lamps, two side tables, one large table, couch, love seat, tv console, and a 50 inch LG Plasma TV. I will have pictures for everyone to see on Tuesday! The deal was fantastic! We got the tv and tv console for free! The couch is super comfortable!

If you buy any furniture there, you get your picture with a baby monkey. Matt loves monkeys…so Matt and his sista got a picture with Sasha! I took pictures!

In addition, after buying furniture you are told to go relax and have some free food in the cafeteria! I had a side salad and a piece of pizza and Matt had a burger. . . fo free!

After we left Gallery Furniture we went to Target and got a storage container for all my Yankee Candle products (we were getting rid of our former middle table that had a storage bin) and a new shower curtain and a bathroom mat. I think Saturday was one of the first days where we really felt grown up. We were getting big people stuff, lol!

I finished The Maze Runner by James Dashner last night. This was another Dystopian novel but didn’t feature any romance unlike Divergent and The Hunger Games (if that is what you call romance); except I sensed there could be a love story brewing sooner or later in the series.

The Maze Runner is about a young 16 year old guy named Thomas. His first appears coming out of a box into a land filled with about 60 boys. He has no memory of anything but feels like he knows that he has been to this place before.

This area is ran by young boys who can sense that where they live is not the real world Connected to the area is a maze. The boys believe this maze is their only way out.   You are only allowed in the maze during the day because at night the walls to the maze close and evil animal/machines come out and kill. They can never figure out how to leave the maze because every day the walls change.  Seems hopeless.

The boys have no memory about where they came from either. They all try to make a living in this area. Some are farmers,  janitors, and a select few are maze runners (they run the maze every day trying to find a way out.) Their main goal in their life is to figure out how to get out.

A lot of stuff starts to happen the second Thomas shows up….and that is where I will leave it. Will Thomas escape? Yup – that is the only thing I’ll talk about!  I don’t want to give anything else away. I think the description on the back of the book gives away too much.

I just started the Scorch Trials! I am excited! Maybe there will be a hint of love? I love action/scary books but it is also nice to have some soft moments.

I had a good friend, Miranda, ask me which she series she should read first – The Hunger Games or Harry Potter. My thoughts?

Harry Potter all the way. Those 7 books make me smile. I love his story. You have got to read these books first and then watch the movies. They are not as good as the books but they sure are entertaining.

If you are looking to get the books at the library - that is wonderful! If you want to buy them http://www.borders.com/ is going out of business and they have a lot of books from 20-40% off! With Harry Potter I want all of the books so my kids can read and fall in love with Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. 

Anyways, I am on some new medication. The only side effect is loss of appetite and an upset stomach. I have been getting this alot. I had it bad yesterday after I got home. Around 6pm I went to lay down on the stomach in our bed. This was the only thing that felt good. I passed out and woke up at 7:30pm - walked Presley, and then went right back to bed. It felt so good to sleep since I only got 5 and a half hours of sleep yesterday. Hopefully the upset stomach will go away. I can handle the loss of appetite but having an upset stomach is a killer.

Books I'm Reading!

I finished reading the Harry Potter series the beginning of July and was instantly depressed. It is sad when you finish a bunch of fantastic books and then have no more.  Therefore, instead of being sad I decided to bury myself in a new series.

I started the Hunger Games Trilogy

 I got the first two books from my sister in law and started.  I absolutely loved these books! It is about a place that was once called The United States. There are 12 different districts that have a specific purpose in their land. Some are coal miners, farmers, etc. They have a Hunger Games each year where 24 kids (2 from each district) are dropped in a dome and have to fight to the death. Whoever is last standing wins their district food for a year.

 It is a story about Katniss and her journey in the Hunger Games. She has a best friend, Gale, who is going to be played by Liam Hemsworth in the film. I was never a fan of Gale so I was happy to see that there was another guy in the book. Let me say, I love Peeta!  He is my favorite!  The end of the first and second book (Catching Fire) left me unsatisfied; they did not leave off happy.

At least in Harry Potter at the end of his book his adventure finished and he went  home for the summer. This one – not so much. The last book – Mocking Jay was depressing…but it ended how I wanted it to end. I really, really, REALLY recommend this book! The first movie comes out March 23, 2012!


Well, after reading Harry Potter and The Hunger Games Trilogy I was still sad! I wish these authors would just continue their story forever and ever. However, since the authors probably won’t listen to me I moved on.

I started the Divergent Trilogy. I must admit - I love Dystopias!

I love it! These books are different and fantastic!

Divergent is the first of three books where Beatrice lives in Chicago. Chicago is broken into 5 factions.  Amity(Peace), Dauntless (Courage), Erudite (Knowledge), Abnegation (Selflessness), and Candor (Truth). When you turn 16 you have to pick a faction.

Is Beatrice going to abandon her family or stay in the original faction?

This book is about her adventure with the faction she chooses.

She also finds a boy that she likes:) I also like this guy! His name is Four!  Peeta and Four!

 The second book does not come out until May of 2012. At least the end of the first book did not end as depressing at The Hunger games first book.  The movie rights to this book have been purchased so I hope to see this brought to the big screen someday soon. I couldn’t put the book down.  It is so easy to put yourself in the place of Beatrice. Veronica Roth describes everything so well – from the atmosphere to the clothes on their back.


I took a quiz online to see what faction I would be in (you can take it too – it is on their fan page – Divergent) and I ended up with Amity. That figures. No confrontation please! 

I am currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner. When I finish the first book I will let ya know how I feel! I am 70% the way there!
